tips in ChungKing MansionsUpon arrival, you will see many ethnic minorities (Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, Bangladeshis) trying to bombard you with flyers for restaurants, electronic or jewelry stores. You are advised to give them a polite gesture such as a smile but do not accept the flyer if you do not wish to visit the location.
TIP: Stores will be more or less selling similar products such as electronics and gold watches. Make sure you walk around as many shops as you can to avoid being ripped-off! Walking around Tsim Sha Tsui after mid-night, especially during the weekends is generally not as dangerous compared to suburban places in hong kong. However, arriving to the chung king mansion too late at night is not preferred as it may be a bit quiet and dark (and spooky!) |

the place itself may not be suitable for children generally because of the hostile environment (children probably would not enjoy the atmosphere either!).
Chung King mansion has also been associated with violence, smuggling of drugs and illegal immigrants, and therefore you are advised to not “make friends”, or be overly helpful with the people. But you will probably be safe if you stay alerted. |
